(PLYMOUTH) - A northern Indiana man faces two counts of felony neglect of a dependent after he allegedly told authorities he left his wife lying on the floor for 30 days.
The Marshall County Prosecutor's Office says 61-year-old Darrel Scheuer deprived his wife of necessary food, water and sanitary facilities.
WSBT-TV reports that a police officer and an Adult Protective Services worker found Mary Ann Scheuer on March 21 dehydrated and with an infected elbow and ulcers and sores on her back, buttocks and left breast. It wasn't clear why she was dependent on him.
Darrel Scheuer was arrested Wednesday. He's being held on $5,000 bond at the Marshall County Jail in Plymouth, about 25 miles south of South Bend. Jail records don't indicate if he has an attorney.
