(FORT WAYNE) - A Fort Wayne man was sentenced to 61 years in prison Friday in connection with a 2010 murder.
The Fort Wayne Journal Gazette reports that in February a jury convicted 20-year-old Patrick Fluker of murdering 29-year-old Tiffany Mendez.
Police found Mendez's body in September of 2010 in a wooded area of Fort Wayne with a single gunshot wound to the face. Fluker was found close to the area near a handgun and with a receipt for ammunition in his pocket that matched shell casings found near Mendez's body.
In his sentencing, the judge called the crime "cold-blooded" and "senseless."
