(LOUISVILLE) - An Indiana woman who lost parts of both her legs while protecting her two children from a tornado has been released after two weeks in the hospital.
The Courier-Journal reports Stephanie Decker was released Friday from University Hospital. The 36-year-old sleep specialist lost one leg above the knee and the other above the ankle when the tornado hit the southeastern Indiana town of Henryville on March 2.
She was injured as beams, bricks and other debris crashed upon her in the basement of the family's home. Her 8-year-old son and 5-year-old daughter were not hurt.
Decker will be able to walk again with prostheses.
