(SULLIVAN CO.) - Three inmates escaped an Illinois Co. Jail.
Mandi Scott of WTHI reported that the three inmates managed to escape the Bond Co. Jail in Greenville, Illinois. Those men have been identified as 28-year-old Brian Wilt, 26-year-old Joshua Frith and 21-year-old James Hickman.
According to the Carlyle, Illinois Police Department, officials observed a suspicious Jeep matching a stolen vehicle out of Greenville, Illinois. When officers began to initiate contact, the subjects fled. The subjects then crashed the Jeep into a parked vehicle near the intersection of 127 and Clinton Street.
Police say the escapees then exited the vehicle and fled on foot.
Two vehicles were reported stolen after the initial incident. One vehicle was stolen from a residential garage and the second was stolen from a residential driveway.
One of the vehicles stolen was a Chevrolet Impala equipped with OnStar. Vigo County dispatchers were contacted by OnStar and able to track the suspects by using their GPS system.
The suspects were reportedly traveling Southbound on U.S. 41 near Pimento in Sullivan County at different speeds. The subjects then turned off onto County Road 250 North where two of them apprehended by Sullivan County authorities.
Wilt was later arrested near Carbondale, IL.
