(UNDATED) - According to new research from the Pew Internet and American Life Project, texting is the ultimate social tool for U.S. teenagers.
Pew found that 63 percent of all teens exchange text messages every day with people in their lives, including their parents.
That's more than they report talking with others on the phone, messaging via social networking sites like Facebook, and emailing.
According to the study, the average teen sends about 60 texts a day.
Older teen girls tend to send and receive about 100 per day.
