(NEW ALBANY) - A southern Indiana man has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to charges of possessing and distributing child pornography.
The U.S. attorney's office says 31-year-old Jason Helm of Madison was sentenced Wednesday in U.S. District Court in New Albany.
Prosecutors say federal, state and local investigators traced emails received in Georgia to Helm's Madison residence in late 2010. When they searched Helm's computer, investigators say they found several hundred sexually explicit images depicting children. Prosecutors say Helm also admitted to trading such pornographic images over the Internet.
U.S. District Judge Richard Young also imposed lifetime supervised release following Helm's release from prison.
