(INDIANAPOLIS) - The Indianapolis Colts will use their number one pick in tonight’s NFL Draft to select Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck.
The excitement toward tonight's draft continues to build this morning.
Jeremy Brilliant, of WTHR reports, the official draft party is scheduled downtown at the Colts Grille. And official merchandise, including new Luck jerseys will be available at the Colts Pro Shop in Lucas Oil Stadium beginning this evening.
The Colts have already made it known they plan on taking Luck with the number one overall pick.
Although the NFL allows the team with the first pick to sign the player they will pick before the draft, Luck said Wednesday he did not believe the people representing him, Wasserman Media Group, and the Colts have begun contract negotiations.
Luck told Eyewitness News Sports Director Dave Calabro, who is covering the draft in New York, that he can't wait to get started in Indianapolis.
"I couldn't be more excited," Luck said. " It's a chance to join the franchise, to wear a horseshoe, a dream come true, and I'm looking forward to getting started with the guys."
Luck will have to wait a few weeks. He'll will be eligible to participate in Colts workouts after June 7 once he takes his last final exam at Stanford.
Colts fans who want to celebrate tonight's NFL Draft can do so from 7 until 9 tonight at the Colts Grill at 110 West Washington Street.
Fans will get the chance to watch the draft, along with getting current player and cheerleader autographs, register to win Colts tickets and Colts memorabilia.
Colts owner Jim Irsay is having a little fun regarding tonight's draft. Irsay posted on Twitter overnight, "Should we take our whole allotment of time on #1 pick?"
