(NEW WHITELAND) - New Whiteland Police say they have a person of interest in custody Saturday night who they believe is connected to a hit-and-run.
The 6-year-old boy is listed in serious condition at Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health.
New Whiteland police say around 6 p.m. Thursday, a car struck a 6-year-old boy as he was riding his bike along Country Gate Drive. The car struck him from behind and continued on toward U.S. 31, police officials said.
Witnesses gave officers conflicting reports on what car may have been involved. Some said it was a four-door subcompact car, similar to a Pontiac Sunbird or Chevrolet Cavalier. One witness said it was a gold car.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the New Whiteland Police Department at 317-535-9781.
