(INDIANAPOLIS) - A 12-year-old Indianapolis boy has been arrested after he struck a teacher, police said.
The incident happened Monday near dismissal time at Brookside Elementary School.
The teacher told police that the boy had been put in the school's timeout room after he was discovered running in the hall.
When the teacher returned to the room to allow the boy to go home for the day, the 12-year-old pushed her against a wall and ran away, police said.
When she found him again, the boy punched the teacher in the arm, police said.
Officers said they had to place the boy in handcuffs while they spoke to the teacher and the boy's mother.
During the discussion, the boy told the teacher that she would "get hers," police said.
The boy was arrested on a preliminary charge of battery. He was being held at the Indianapolis Juvenile Correctional Facility.
