(INDIANAPOLIS) - A first grader was left at the Indianapolis Zoo after a school field trip.
It happened Thursday as the group was leaving the zoo.
The boy is a student in the North Montgomery Community School Corporation in Crawfordsville.
Zoo officials said he was found in the picnic area and that they quickly jumped into action.
"It's very rare that it does happen, but the zoo is very equipped through our guest services team and our security to take care of in this case, lost children, or anything to do with the safety of our guests," said Jon Glesing, Director of Public Relations from the Indianapolis Zoo.
A chaperone and neighbor of the boy ended up driving him home after the zoo got in touch with the boy's emergency contact.
