(INDIANAPOLIS) - Federal authorities have charged a former Indianapolis FBI agent with possessing and distributing child pornography.
Donald Sachtleben, 54, is facing one charge of possession of child porn and one charge of distribution of child porn. He was arrested on a federal complaint.
Authorities began their investigation in September 2010 and an arrest of an Illinois man in January 2012 revealed the person arrested was trading child porn with other people, including Sachtleben, the U.S. Attorney's office said. A search warrant was executed at Sachtleben's Carmel home in early May. Investigators found 30 images and video files containing child porn.
The former FBI agent was working as a contractor that does work with the FBI.
If convicted, he faces up to 30 years in prison. Sachtleben has a court appearance scheduled for Thursday.
