(COLUMBUS) - Five people were hurt in a crash Wednesday afternoon on northbound I-65 in Bartholomew County near Columbus.
Ruthanne Gordon, of WISH TV, reports that according to Indiana State Police, motorists were trying to yield to a trooper who had a driver stopped, when a semi hit the back of a Suburban driven by Kelly C. Bowers of Edinburgh, Indiana.
The Suburban then rolled ejecting two of the passengers.
The semi then struck the rear of a Nissan being driven by 36 year old Laura Bracken of Trafalgar, Indiana.
After the impact the semi and the Nissan became locked together and traveled off the roadway into the east side of the roadway and down an embankment.
Kelly Bowers and her children 15 year old Sidney, 11 year old Adam and 9 year old Sarah were all taken to Columbus Regional Hospital for injuries.
13 year old Aaron Bowers was taken to Columbus Regional and then transferred to Riley Hospital for Children at IU-Health with a possible skull fracture.
The crash remains under investigation including whether or not seat belts were in use by any of the occupants of the Suburban.
