(MONGO) - A Fort Wayne man was found dead in a northern Indiana river, Indiana conservation officers said.
Canoeists found 60-year-old Thomas Harmeyer's body about noon Saturday in shallow water along the Pigeon River in LaGrange County.
An autopsy performed Sunday showed he died from blunt force trauma to the head. Investigators believe he may have suffered the injuries in a fall.
State conservation officers suspect Harmeyer had been fishing because he was wearing chest waders and fishing equipment was found near him.
His body was found just west of the Nasby Dam in the Pigeon River Fish and Wildlife Area about 30 miles northwest of Fort Wayne near the town of Mongo.
