(NEW CASTLE) - An unusual accident killed a Yorktown plumbing contractor, officials said.
Chad Unverzagt, 55, died at an Indianapolis hospital Friday after a high pressure stream of water apparently sliced his neck, causing heavy bleeding, authorities said.
The Hoosier A-1 Sanitary Sewer Service employee had been called to New Castle High School.
Officials said Unverzagt was clearing a blocked line with a high-pressure water hose at the time of the accident.
New Castle-Henry County EMS Director Ron Burns said he believes the water caused the wound.
Burns said a school maintenance worker with Unverzagt at the time wasn't injured and administered first aid until emergency responders arrived.
New Castle School Corporation Assistant Superintendent Bo Pheffer said state workplace safety officials had been notified.
