(TERRE HAUTE) - A Wabash Valley woman accused of stabbing a couple and trying to steal their baby pleaded guilty to one felony charge against her Monday.
Joe Astrouski, of WTHI, reports that authorities say Stephanie Foster faked her own pregnancy for several months, then stabbed Ashley and Michael Speer and tried to steal their infant son in June 2010.
Initially, Foster had faced several felony charges including attempted murder, attempted armed robbery, aggravated battery and attempted criminal confinement while armed with a deadly weapon.
On Monday, Foster pleaded guilty to a charge of armed robbery, a Class A felony, as part of a plea agreement with prosecutors, according to Vigo County Prosecutor Terry Modesitt.
Under that agreement, the other charges will be dropped and Foster's sentence will be capped at 30 years in prison. That means prosecutors can argue for up to 30 years while Foster's legal representatives can argue for less.
