(ANDERSON) - There could be a future for the Wigwam in Anderson.
A local architect named Jesse Wilkerson is looking into the idea of developing the former high school gymnasium into, possibly a convention center.
The Wigwam was the second largest high school gym in the country, but because of the high cost of operating it, the district had to shuts its doors a year ago. Wilkerson says the community has been hopeful that a big part of Anderson's heritage might be saved.
The Anderson Community School District Superintendent, Dr. Felix Chow, says he hasn't gotten any serious offers to purchase the Wigwam but, he says he'll listen to anyone who wants to take the building off the district's hands.
