(BEECH GROVE) - The athletic director at Beech Grove High School, who was placed on administrative leave after accusations he kissed a female student, will retire.
Kevin Stephenson was suspended in May after a parent contacted police about a report that he had kissed a girl on the cheek.
School district officials said Tuesday that Stephenson had asked for and received permission from the Beech Grove School Board to retire.
Stephenson was named as an administrator of the year by the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association in 2011.
According to a profile on the group's website, Stephenson worked as a teacher and baseball coach at Brebeuf Jesuit for seven years, a teacher at Whiteland High School and Clark-Pleasant Middle School for five years and an athletic director at Fall Creek Valley Middle School in Lawrence Township for 14 years before taking the athletic director job in Beech Grove five years ago.
