(DANVILLE) - Danville police are investigating the discovery of a bone in a field near an apartment complex.
Bill Wright, who leads the department's investigative division, says officers were called to the 3100 block of Gardenview Terrace by someone reporting having found what they thought might be a human bone.
Wright said it hasn't been determined whether it is a human bone.
Police officers were being assisted by lighting from a fire truck Friday evening as they search to determine if other remains might be in the area.
The Hendricks County Coroner will lead an effort to determine the origin of the bone.
