(UNDATED) - The dry weather and drought conditionss are affecting more than people’s lawns. Many are now facing the heat wave without any water as wells around Central Indiana are starting to run dry.
Jill Moss lives in Zionsville. She stood Wednesday afternoon just waiting and watching as a new well was dug on her land.
"We had a little bit of water, not a lot of pressure and then later there was absolutely nothing."
Moss had been without water for six days and has two kids.
"We had some neighbors who offered to wash and do some things there. But honestly, you take it for granted not having the water."
Moss didn't have water because her well went dry. Josh Abdnour with C&J Well Company said she's not alone.
"Especially in a drought time like this where there is a lot of water being consumed up here on the top of the ground that's really impacting some of those shallower veins down low."
Abdnour said with it being so dry the water everyone is using is affecting what's available in the top tables of water. With no rain replenishing it, wells are drying up. The problem is worse the closer to heavily populated areas you are.
Abdnour said we need rain.
"It seems the longer this drought is going on, it's picking up some pace."
C&J Well drilled a deeper well for Moss, creating a big mess in her yard. She said she doesn't mind.
"I'm just excited they're here! Six days no water!"
