(LIZTON) - It has been an unsual week in what some might describe as a quiet Hendricks County neighborhood.
Gunfire pierced the silence outside a Lizton home Monday and Wednesday morning bombs exploded.
Lieutenant Jim Yetter says as officers gathered evidence in the shooting death of 26 year-old Emily Giles, they found 17 pipe bombs. Someone tailored the bombs to do extra damage with BBs and nails. The IMPD bomb squad responded and destroyed the bombs.
It was a scary find at 37 year-old Michael Giles' home. But police knew he had weapons. They say he killed his wife with one, then shot himself in the head. He survived.
No one is charged in Emily Giles' death, and in her husband's current condition, police cannot say when the prosecutor might make that decision.
Officers found the bombs in a metal box while searching the home for evidence in the shooting.
