(TERRE HAUTE) - An Indiana National Guard unit will move its headquarters and operations from Indianapolis to Terre Haute.
Adjutant General Martin Umbarger says the 81st Troop Command will establish its headquarters at Hulman Field in Terre Haute.
The unit, commanded by Brigadier General Joe Osborne, is responsible for emergency response and operations in the event of a manmade or natural disaster.
Umbarger says he wanted to move on over the units headquartered in Indianapolis outside of the capital city and the 81st Troop Command made the most sense. Umbarger says this will give his office an alternate command post in the event something should happen in Indianapolis that is well away from the city.
The 81st Troop Command consists of 32 full time positions and 66 citizen soldiers and airmen.
