(INDIANAPOLIS) - An Indianapolis man stabbed another man to death, wrapped his body in a rug and tried to cover up the crime, police said.
Officers were called to an apartment building at 3330 N. Meridian St. on Thursday afternoon.
Inside one of the apartments they found a man's body wrapped in a rug and blood stains throughout the unit, according to the police report.
The victim, who was later identified as Johnny Allen, 38, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The tenant of the apartment, David Gaines, 41, was located and taken into custody.
When questioned, he admitted to police that he and Allen had gotten into a fight and that he stabbed Allen several times, according to the police report.
Gaines said he wrapped the body in a rug, cleaned up blood around the apartment and soaked the knife he used in bleach, police said.
Gaines was arrested on a preliminary charge of murder.
