(FISHERS) - A man was arrested Tuesday after he admitted falsely reporting the burglary of his grandmother’s snow blower and taking it to pay off a drug debt.
Fishers police said they were called to a home in the 11900 block of Weathered Edge Drive, near 116th Street and Brooks School Road, when a man told a dispatcher that his grandmother's snow blower had been stolen from her garage.
An officer talked with neighbors, one of whom reported seeing the woman's grandson take the snow blower and load it into a car before leaving.
"The homeowner told (the officer) she was not surprised and was aware of her grandson's heroin addiction," said Fishers police Detective Tom Weger.
Police said Simpson admitted taking the snow blower.
"The suspect advised he owed a guy in Indianapolis $200 for heroin. The suspect paid off the debt with the snow blower," Weger said.
The woman did not wish to report the theft of the snow blower to police.
