(TRAFALGAR) - A 17-year-old girl is in the hospital after a horseback riding accident in Johnson County.
Sheriff's deputies were called to the 7000 block of South Peoga Road in Trafalgar Wednesday afternoon in response to the accident. Witnesses told police the girl was thrown from a horse she was riding when it reared up and fell over on its side. The girl was briefly trapped under the horse until it stood up.
The witness also told officers the girl lost consciousness for a moment, but went into seizures after regaining consciousness. The first deputy at the scene found the girl conscious, but unresponsive, on the ground in a horse pasture.
The girl was transported to Indian Creek High School, where she was then flown by Lifeline to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
There has been no update on her condition.
