(ANDERSON) - Two teens were arrested on attempted murder charges after allegedly beating a 15-year-old boy with a metal baseball bat, causing life-threatening injuries, police said.
Wednesday afternoon, Anderson police responded to a call for help in the 600 block of East 27th Street.
When officers arrived, they found a 15-year-old boy who had been severely beaten with extensive head injuries. Despite his injuries, police said he was able to tell police about the attack and describe his attackers to investigators, detectives said.
The victim told police that he was approached by two males who were traveling in a brown van. He was knocked to the ground, then hit several times with a metal baseball bat.
Based on tips, police found Donovan Ball, 18, of Anderson, and another 17-year-old boy from Chicago, at a home in the 1000 block of Indiana Avenue in Anderson, later that night.
Ball and the 17-year-old were taken into custody after resisting arrest. Investigators said they were able to secure evidence from the home believed to connected to the beating, police said.
The victim was taken to St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis with multiple skull fractures and brain trauma.
Police said the motive behind the incident remains under investigation.
