(ELKHART) - Housing officials in northern Indiana say residents of a bedbug-infested apartment complex could face eviction if they fail to cooperate with efforts to eradicate the pests.
More than a dozen units at the Waterfall Highrise complex in Elkhart are infested with bedbugs.
Elkhart Housing Authority Executive Director Kim Sindle tells The Elkhart Truth that tenants are required to move furniture from the walls when exterminators arrive and follow guidelines for cleaning clothing and bedding.
Single says some residents aren't doing their part to help rid units of the pests.
Under a new policy, a tenant who is written up three times for violating the bedbug protocol can receive an eviction notice.
Sindle says he has "no doubt" that someone will face eviction over the matter.
