(MUNCIE) - Ball State media students are getting ready to go to London to help cover the 2012 Olympic Games.
The students from the university's College of Communication Information and Media will be providing print and video content for various media outlets including NBC. Ball State Telecommunications Instructor Chris Taylor says they're focusing on more of a "backstage" look rather than who won or lost a particular event.
Taylor, who also serves as Faculty Advisor for Ball State Sports Link, an immersive sports production program at Ball State, says his students are treating this project as if they were employees and not students. Sports Link has also worked with the NCAA to provide coverage of March Madness for the past two years.
The Olympics project came from partnership with the University of Worcester in England as well as a provost grant from Ball State. The students will arrive in England on July 23rd and will come back a few days after closing ceremonies.
