(CLOVERDALE) - A 15-year-old Indianapolis boy was seriously injured Tuesday after being struck by a boat propeller, Indiana Conservation Officers said.
Investigators said the incident happened at Cataract Lake near Cloverdale when two 15-year-old boys were on an inner tube being pulled by the boat, when it suddenly turned toward them. The two teens jumped from the inner tube into the water to avoid being struck, but one of the boys was subsequently injured.
Conservation officers said the teen was struck by the motor's propeller, receiving several serious cuts to his abdomen.
The teen was flown by lifeline helicopter on Tuesday to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis in serious condition.
A 12-year-old boy was reportedly operating the boat at the time of the incident.
The Department of Natural Resources is investigating the incident.
