(JOHNSON COUNTY) - Flames shot through the middle of traffic on State Road 37 in Johnson County Sunday afternoon.
Just before 2 p.m., a grass fire flared up in the median, just south of County Line Road.
Sheriff's deputies restricted traffic between County Line and Fairview Roads.
Fire departments from Johnson County were able to put out the flames quickly.
There's no word on what started the fire. The dry conditions certainly perpetuated the situation. Sparks from cars and trucks going by, and people throwing out cigarettes can easily start these dry grass fires.
Much of Indiana is under severe drought conditions, with several counties enforcing burn bans.
The Department of Homeland Security is reminding everyone to be extra careful, when going out in these dry areas.
