(INDIANAPOLIS) - Indiana State Police are investigating the theft of some evidence from the Indiana State Fair stage collapse investigation.
Police said cables from the State Fair stage rigging were stolen over the weekend by thieves who appeared to be looking for metal.
The cables were being stored, along with other debris from the collapsed rigging, at a warehouse in Indianapolis as part of the on-going investigation.
The warehouse is not located on Indiana State Fair property, but is in an undisclosed, private location.
Police said they don't think the thieves were after the State Fair evidence, but rather that the theft was a "crime of opportunity."
Electrical wiring from the warehouse - not related to the stage rigging - was also stolen.
