(BROWNSBURG) - A Brownsburg teen who caused a crash that killed an 18-year-old passenger has been sentenced to probation in the case.
Christopher Hubbard, 17, of Brownsburg, was driving in the 6900 block of County Road 550 East on May 19 when his car struck a tree.
A back seat passenger, Nathan Gentry, 18, suffered massive head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Sean Bloomquist, 18, the front seat passenger, Taylor Lamonte, 16, a back seat passenger, and Hubbard were seriously injured. Ian Cherco, 16, suffered minor injuries.
Brownsburg police initially said that marijuana and alcohol were believed to be contributing factors in the crash because of victims' statements and paraphernalia found at the scene.
Few details were released about Tuesday's court proceedings, but Hendricks County Prosecutor Pat Baldwin confirmed that Hubbard was sentenced to probation.
Gentry, Hubbard and Lamonte attended Brownsburg High School, while Cherco and Bloomquist are Tri-West students.
