(BRAZIL) - A city breaks ground on the home of a future skate park. It’ll be located at the corner of Wesleyan Church Drive and Jackson Street in Brazil.
Roberta Weliver has been working for five years to get a skate park to the area. She's a former teacher, who currently substitutes. She said her students had been requesting a park for years. Recently, the city donated the stretch of land for the park. Now, crews are moving dirt and clearing the area.
"I am super excited. This has been going on for 5 years and it's just the culmination of a huge project," Weliver said. She's been able to raise more than $46,000 in donations for the park. She hopes it'll be completed by this fall.
Brazil Mayor, Bryan Wyndham said he's also very excited to see a new development come to the city.
