(INDIANAPOLIS) - A grandmother faces a preliminary neglect charge after leaving her 10-year-old grandson in the car while she shopped, police said.
The woman was shopping at the Shopper's World at Lafayette Square Mall while her grandson waited in the car Monday evening, according to police.
Police said the car was running and the air conditioner was on.
The woman had been in the store for about 50 minutes when another shopper noticed the child in the running car and called mall security, police said.
Police arrested the woman, who now faces a preliminary charge of child neglect.
The child was unharmed and is with the Department of Child Services.
