(FISHERS) - A man who tried to challenge Mike Pence for the Republican nomination for governor earlier this year was arrested Sunday after a confrontation with his wife, police said.
Fishers police were called to the home of Jim Wallace, in the 700 block of Tamenend Trace, near Brooks School Road and Fall Creek Road, about 6 p.m.
When officers arrived, Wallace's wife told them that she and Wallace had been involved in a verbal dispute that escalated.
"During the argument, (she claimed) James grabbed her by the throat and threw her against a wall," read a release from Tom Weger, Fishers police public information officer. "The female was able to lock herself and her 5-year-old daughter in an upstairs bedroom and call 911."
Police said no one was injured, but Wallace was taken to the Hamilton County Jail. He was arrested on a charge of domestic battery, a Class D felony.
Wallace was being held on $5,000 bond following an initial hearing Monday.
No one needed medical attention at the home, police said.
Wallace did not appear on the primary ballot because he had not collected enough signatures to make the ballot.
