(INDIANAPOLIS) - The creation at hand was one that’s was nine months in the making.
Larry Hawley reports, for the Indianapolis Colts Director of Football Technology, Ryan Fannin, it could be the pride of the applications in the National Football League.
The new phone app was made available for Colts fans on Tuesday for their smartphone, Blackberry or I Pod touch systems.
It is meant to keep the casual fan informed but more to enhance the experience of those who venture downtown to the corner of South and Missouri.
As the 20th team in the NFL to create such an app, everything is about game day once the devices turn on.
The app offers a significant amount of help to fans to find amenities and and around Lucas Oil Stadium, which will have WiFi for Colts fans to get onto once they arrive.
There is an option to check out stadium traffic around south downtown and then when you get in the stadium there is a map for fans to find their seat and places to eat.
Once in their seat, the options open. Within the app there is the ability to watch three different angles of the game streaming into the phones or mobile devices. If the audio is king, than an option exists to pick up the game call from Colts play-by-play announcer Bob Lamey.
There is also an option to buy something from the Colts Pro Shop, purchase tickets for future games and check out fantasy stats. If someone is causing a fan problems while doing this, than an option on the app allows them to report such behavior to security.
Of course this will get its first run-through on Sunday when the Colts host the Vikings in the home opener. Fannin says the team has already planned ahead in case there are glitches with the system or WiFi that will help the apps function.
Fannin says there will be 16 people at the stadium to help people through the app. All people need to do is search out the people in the orange shirts for help.
