(CROWN POINT) - A northern Indiana man has pleaded guilty in the fatal stabbing of a funeral home operator found dead with a screwdriver embedded in one of his eyes.
The Times of Munster reports 31-year-old Shawn Zvonar of Robertsdale pleaded guilty Tuesday to voluntary manslaughter in the death of 58-year-old David Ruzich. In pleading guilty to the crime, Zvonar admitted that he stabbed Ruzich last October during an altercation.
Ruzich was fatally stabbed in a two-story Whiting home that also housed the former Ruzich Funeral Home. A family handyman found Ruzich's bloodied body on a bed, with a screwdriver embedded in his right eye socket.
An autopsy showed Ruzich died of a slashed throat and suffered multiple stab wounds to the upper back, neck, shoulder area and face.
