Excise Police Arrest 55 At College Football Games

(MUNCIE) - Indiana State Excise Police officers arrested 20 people on 23 charges at Ball State University’s first home football game on Thursday, Aug. 31.

Officers also arrested 35 people on 36 charges during Indiana University's first home game on Saturday, Sept. 1.

Police say on Thursday excise officers arrested 19 minors for illegal possession or consumption of alcohol during Ball State's game. One person was charged with possession of false ID, and one adult was cited for aiding a minor to possess alcohol.

A 19-year-old girl was jailed for possession of alcohol, false informing and public intoxication after she gave officer's someone else's name. The girl tested a .162 percent blood alcohol content.

Excise officers arrested 34 minors in Bloomington on Saturday. Four juveniles less than 18 years old were included in these arrests. They were arrested for illegal possession or consumption of alcohol during Indiana University's game, according to police.

One adult was also cited for aiding a minor to possess alcohol.

Indiana State Excise Police officers were working in Muncie and Bloomington this weekend as part of the Intensified College Enforcement program launched last semester.

The ICE initiative aims to reduce underage access to and use of alcohol at six college campuses: Ball State, Butler, Indiana, Indiana State, Notre Dame and Purdue, according to a release.
