(INDIANAPOLIS) - A 23-year-old Indianapolis father has been arrested after he drove a mo-ped while holding his infant daughter, police said.
Officers were called to a south side apartment near East Epler Avenue and South East Street on Wednesday afternoon after a maintenance worker said he spotted the man driving around the complex.
According to a police report, Patrick Monaghan came outside and asked officers, "Are you out here about me driving around with my baby?"
Witnesses said Monaghan had been driving around while carrying his 11-month-old daughter, which he admitted to police.
"I was just trying to have fun with my daughter. I didn't mean any harm," Monaghan said, according to the report. "I've been doing this for two days and nobody said anything."
Monaghan was arrested on a preliminary charge of neglect of a dependent.
The infant's mother was also at the apartment but she was not arrested.
The girl was taken into custody by the Department of Child Services.
