(INDIANAPOLIS) - A fired jail deputy has been arrested and charged with battery after a violent incident involving an inmate at the processing center.
Fox59 reports, according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, Nathaniel Latimer got into an argument with an arrestee and slammed his head on a metal bench. The man received medical treatment at the Arrestee Processing Center.
The incident happened on July 28. Latimer was on administrative leave while the investigatin was underway. Marion County Sheriff John Layton fired Latimer after the prosecutor's office issued criminal warrants in the case.
Charges against the former jail deputy include official misconduct and battery.
Latimer had been with the Marion County Sheriff's Office since January 2011.
