(GREENWOOD) - A 19-year-old man is in the hospital after leading police on a chase overnight.
Around 2 a.m., a Greenwood Police officer spotted a motorcycle traveling southbound on State Road 135 at twice the speed limit.
The officer pursued the motorcycle, reaching speeds more than 100 miles-per-hour.
The motorcyclist turned onto Grove Crossing Boulevard, where he crashed.
Police say he ran out of road and ended up in the grass face down and unconscious.
He was rushed to Methodist Hospital in critical condition.
Investigators identified the young man as Jeremiah Kephart. He has a prior arrest for public intoxication and possession of alcohol by a minor.
Toxicology tests are pending.
