(INDIANAPOLIS) - Indianapolis Homeland Security officials awaited lab results Friday after the emergency room at Riley Hospital for Children was evacuated.
Seven people became ill after a strong odor overtook the ER just after noon on Thursday.
Indiana National Guard members said a woman in the ER fell ill and as she was being treated, nurses and other medical officials reported a strange odor.
Indianapolis Fire Department officials were also called to the hospital for assistance.
"We confiscated clothing that may have been contaminated. We brought it outside and packaged it in a drum. (It was) sent out (to be) tested," Derrick Sayles with IFD said.
Hospital officials received clearance to re-open the ER around 8 p.m. Thursday.
