(JACKSON COUNTY) - Five people were injured following pursuit in Jennings County Saturday.
According to a press release from the Indiana State Police, Deputy Allen Ritchie was on State Road 7 around 8:45 p.m. responding to assist Jefferson County Deputies with a pursuit.
As Ritchie neared County Road 100 South, he drove up behind a van driven by Sylvia Glover, 67 of North Vernon.
As the van started to turn left onto County Road 100 South the two vehicles collided.
Sylvia and her husband John Glover, 70, were treated for complaints of pain and released from St. Vincent Jennings Hospital.
Inside the Deputy's vehicle were two Jennings County Reserve Deputies, John Jayne, 41, and Randy Perdue, 58.
Deputies Jayne and Perdue were treated for minor injuries and released from St. Vincent Hospital.
Deputy Ritchie was transported to St. Vincent Hospital with injuries to his chest and back.
He was later transported to University Hospital in Louisville, Ky. by medical helicopter.
While Ritchie's injuries are severe they are not considered life threatening.
