Man Arrested After Beating 6-Month-Old Son

(INDIANAPOLIS) - A 19-year-old Indianapolis man has been arrested after he admitted to beating his 6-month-old son, police said.

The baby was hospitalized in June with several broken bones and severe bruising, according to a police report.

During an interview with police Thursday, Evan R. Ward, 19, the boy's father, admitted to causing the injuries during at least two separate assaults.

Ward was arrested on three counts of battery causing serious bodily injury and three counts of neglect of a dependent.

Police did not provide information about the baby's condition or who had custody of the boy.
