(CLARK COUNTY) - A man led police on a high-speed car chase then a foot pursuit through the woods before being caught and arrested, police said.
RTV6 reports, 42-year-old Charles F. Jackson, of Memphis, Ind., led police on a chase Tuesday afternoon, after being pulled over on Interstate 65 near Henryville for a traffic violation.
Police say, the officer who stopped Jackson was at the driver-side window asking Jackson questions when he put the car in drive and sped off.
Police say speeds reached up to 84 mph.
According to police, Jackson exited I-65 at the Henryville exit, drove down several country roads to a wooded area then exited his car and ran from the scene.
Police set up a perimeter and called in K9 units to search for Jackson. Police found Jackson hiding under some boards in a junk pile.
Jackson was taken to the Clark County Jail on preliminarily charges of resisting law enforcement in a vehicle, resisting law enforcement on foot, criminal recklessness in a vehicle and reckless driving.
Police discovered that Jackson was already wanted on two warrants - one for criminal conversion and one for three counts of resisting law enforcement and one count of criminal recklessness in a vehicle.
