(INDIANAPOLIS) - Three people were injured early Wednesday morning following a crash in a construction zone on Indianapolis’ south east side.
Jim Scott, of WISH TV8 reports, shortly after 2:30 am emergency crews were dispatched to the 2100 block of southbound I-465.
For several hours all lanes of southbound 465 were closed near US 52, Brookville Road to allow for crash clean up.
Two state highway workers escaped serious injury when their dump truck was struck from the rear by a semi-trailer. Terry Starks and Mark Cleary were taken to Methodist Hospital for evaluation.
The driver of the semi, David Ketcham was trapped in the wreckage.
IFD extrication crews were able to free him within 15 minutes and Ketcham was taken to Methodist Hospital with various injuries.
Investigators say the State Highway workers were working on a highway maintenance project when the accident occurred.
