(INDIANAPOLIS) - A man and a child were critically injured after a shooting inside an apartment on the city’s north side Saturday, Indianapolis police said.
Just after 8:30 p.m., Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers were sent to the 8000 block of Spyglass Drive on reports of a shooting. Emergency dispatchers said they received several calls about residents reporting gunshots and a screaming child.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and a girl who had apparently been shot. The man was rushed to Saint Vincent Hospital in critical condition and the girl was rushed to Riley Hospital for Children in fair condition, police said.
Investigators did not immediately say if the man and the girl were related.
Detectives are trying to determine a motive behind the shooting and asked anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 317.262.TIPS (8477). Callers can also text "INDYCS" plus tip information to 274627(CRIMES).
