(NINEVEH) - State fire investigators have been called in to look at the cause of a fire at the Nineveh Masonic Lodge that is being called suspicious in nature.
Jim Scott , of WISH TV8 reports, around midnight, a neighbor across the street spotted smoke and flames coming from the rear of the lodge and called 911.
A Johnson County police officer was on the scene quickly and confirmed the fire at the Lodge which is located at 7221 South Nineveh Road.
The first units on the scene reported heavy fire involved to an outdoor kitchen that is attached to the rear lower level of the lodge.
Flames extended into the kitchen area.
There was some smoke and water damage to the lower dining area as well.
The upstairs lodge meeting area was not damaged.
Firefighters brought the flames under control within 10 minutes.
No one was inside at the time. No one was injured.
A meeting at the lodge ended around 9 p.m. Thursday night.
