(INDIANAPOLIS) - Metro police say a police dog was injured Saturday in a struggle with a suspect.
Police say an officer was conducting a narcotics investigation in the area of Washington and Dequincy Streets on the east side at about 4 p.m. Saturday. During the process of taking a suspect into custody, the suspect gouged the eye of a police K-9 who was assisting the officer.
The animal sustained an injury to the eye and was transported to a veterinary clinic.
A suspect is being detained at the scene.
