(WEST LAFAYETTE) - Excise officers arrested 67 people in West Lafayette this weekend, including a highly intoxicated man who told them Mitt Romney was president.
On Friday and Saturday nights, excise officers on and around the campus of Purdue University arrested 38 minors on charges of illegal possession and consumption of alcohol, while 12 adults were accused of furnishing alcohol to minors.
Early Sunday, officers found a 20-year-old Columbus man who was so intoxicated he wasn't able to stand by himself or form coherent sentences, excise officers said.
"At one point, he told officers that Mitt Romney was president," Cpl. Travis Thickstun said in a news release.
The man, who told officers he was an EMT, was taken to Central Hospital and arrested on a charge of illegal consumption of alcohol.
In a separate incident early Sunday, excise officers found a 19-year-old girl from Fort Wayne vomiting in front of a dorm on Tower Road.
The girl, who had a blood-alcohol content of 0.22 percent, couldn't stand without help and told officers she wasn't sure where she was, excise police said. She was taken to Central Hospital for treatment.
