(INDIANAPOLIS) - U.S. Sen. Richard Lugar is preparing to announce his plans for the future after spending 36 years in the Senate.
The Associated Press reports, the Indiana Republican will reveal his plans during a news conference Friday afternoon at the University of Indianapolis.
The university might be part of those plans. University President Robert Manual will join Lugar at the news conference.
The university on the south side of Indianapolis will host the 36th Lugar Symposium for Tomorrow's Leaders on Saturday. The symposium brings together more than 400 high school juniors from across Indiana to discuss a variety of domestic and international topics. Lugar will give an address that he considers his most comprehensive of the year.
President Barack Obama honored Lugar and former Georgia Sen. Sam Nunn this week for their nuclear disarmament program.
